Integrate.

Music by Christopher Norman.

Wow, I'm awful at patience. Definitely underestimated how bad at this I am. Maybe this should've had two months of focus.

Wait, I can still focus on it. Okay, that's what I'll do. Next month I'm cracking into that creativity nut, and with that, I will absolutely need to focus on patience at the same time. I'm thinking creativity is much like a muscle, and I'd like to spend the next month working that thing out. At the same time, it's not something you can force into existence, so I'll have to exercise patience with myself.

This month went by so fast. I barely had time to even think about patience, but I absolutely noticed it here in the past week or so. At work, I'm in charge of training some new people and for whatever reason, that brings out the worst traits of mine. When I learned the job, I attacked the qualification like a girl on a mission. I've always set the bar high for myself, so I have a hard time training people who may not think that way. It may be a reflection on younger generations and how it's a kind of 'you give me the answer since you know it, I don't need to look it up myself,' deal. Maybe not even generations, because some of the new people are older than I am... reflection on society I suppose. Everyone expects to be handed the information, memorize it rote style, then regurgitate it when someone quizzes them on it. While that works for a lot of jobs, it won't work here. In our job, we have to think outside of the box in case things get a little hairy. Not to get into it much though, I'll just say I need these trainees to step it up. But I should keep trying to exercise patience.

Seeing the other side of the coin is sometimes hard, when a person values something in particular.

Flowers In Your Hair.

Music by The Lumineers.

A day late on this but that's okay.

The week was mostly a blur. Every day, I was just excited to hang out with the girl I met. Unfortunately, the project suffered because of it, just because I was so distracted.

Patience. That was tested this past week. I had a bit of a scare that I only shared with my brother, and I only intend to ever tell my brother. This thing really shook me, and there was nothing I could do but wait it out. Luckily, I didn't have to wait as long as I expected, because I was starting to get legitimately worried. But it worked out and is no longer scary.

Nice and vague. That's how I like it.

I swear, each month that I focus on something, a big issue or event comes up that seems to test what I'm doing. Maybe it's that law of attraction at work. I'm putting out to the universe that I'm working on these things, the universe throws it back at me and says, 'figure it out.'

Fine by me, universe. Come at me, bro.

Cosmic love.

Music by Florence and the Machine.

For the past few weeks, I've been awful about making time for this project; I should be better. Morning meditation pretty much doesn't happen anymore, I just get to it some time in the evening. I'm reviewing my weekly quote and listening to a weekly song every morning, but it's become more of a 'follow the checklist' thing vice a 'care about why I'm actually doing it' thing.

This note is even being written a few days late, just because I haven't made time for it. And maybe writing a blog was a little ambitious. I don't even care that people read it, so why can't I just keep a journal instead? I s'ppose I could, but it may be an accountability thing.

Bleh. Everyone has down days. Can't be outwardly happy every day. Today was definitely one of those.

In other news, I've met someone. She's awesome.

Giving tree.

My first week of September went by so slowly. I kept checking the date to make sure I hadn't let the week blow by without a note. And just when I least expected it, I got distracted and let it slip right by.

It was a welcome distraction, though.

Back to the project.

Patience, I've decided, is reciprocal. When a person is impatient and doesn't give at all in situations requiring compromise, other people affected by that attitude remember it about them. So when a situation arrises and that impossible person is in need of help or maybe a little patience themselves, others are hesitant to reach out. When I snap at people, I look like the jerk. I especially look like the jerk if they turn out to have a valid point or better way of doing things. That's not cool, bro. I'm not into that.

Being patient at work is honestly easier without a few certain people in the office, but I kind of wish they were here just so I could practice fighting my worst trait. Oh well, I'm sure I can find daily stressors to make my blood boil, if I look for them.

Or maybe I'm in too much of a good mood for now to be that way at all.
